A garage doesn't need to be pretty to work well. These small projects make car care easier and cost very little.
1. Pegboard zones ($12–20)
Split one panel into four zones: car care, cords and chargers, hand tools, safety gear. Outline tools with a marker so they come back.
2. Rolling battery cart (~$15)
A plywood square on four casters lets you move a 40-lb battery without lifting it twice.
3. Drip tray (~$8)
A boot tray under the engine catches leaks and protects the floor.
4. Parts log binder ($3)
Receipts, battery install dates and voltage readings in one place. It makes warranty claims painless.
5. Cheap jobs you can do yourself
Wiper swaps, air filters, tire pressure and terminal cleaning save real money over shop prices.
Batteries are one of the bigger recurring costs for drivers with mowers, carts and boats too. We reviewed Easy Battery Fix, a guide to stretching battery life with DIY reconditioning.
